The Cynefin Centre for Organisational Complexity
The Cynefin Centre for Organisational Complexity seeks to solve intractable problems that have defied more traditional management theories. This approach harnesses a variety of perspectives, drawing on participation by thinkers in a variety of business functions, as well as academic and scientific disciplines around the world. The Cynefin Centre is sponsored by IBM Global Services. Dave Snowden, a world-renowned thought leader in both complexity and narrative, is the founder and Director of the Centre. Christian Hauck, a world-unknown but multi-locally renowned thought-leader is a member of the Centre, linking it with Novartis. The Cynefin Centre does not invalidate the current practices of scientific management, information management, knowledge management, storytelling, organisational learning, systems thinking, and agent based modeling. Instead, it bounds them with new insights and understandings from the science of complex adaptive systems. Complexity - based approaches require a radical shift in thinking, that paradoxically, once made, reveal a new simplicity without the simplistic and formulaic solutions of management fads or consulting models. |
